History of ACL

Action Centred Leadership

Originally developed in the 1960s by John Adair, Action Centred Leadership™ (ACL®) has evolved to become one of the best known leadership models in the world. Practical and highly effective, it is used by businesses and organisations globally to develop their leadership capability and management skills.

Central to Effective Outcomes becoming a specialist agency for ACL is our belief that its approach to leadership is as relevant today as it ever was, and that its effectiveness has been proven repeatedly over time. All too often, however, ACL has not been properly taught, and although the model is extremely robust, trainer error and deviations in methodology have, on occasions, caused ACL to be misinterpreted, thereby diluting its effectiveness.

It has always been John Adair’s desire to ensure the very highest standards of quality in ACL training, to maintain and develop the ACL model and to conduct on-going research into leadership. It is for this reason that Effective Outcomes founder Sarah Christie is one of only two Associates in the UK who is licensed to accredit ACL Leaders. Sarah takes this responsibility very seriously and is passionately committed to maintaining the exacting standards set by John Adair.

The great benefit of ACL is that it ACTUALLY WORKS…Read more >>
